The road is part of the decision
Siwa lies deep in the Western Desert, close to the Libyan border, and the road journey from Cairo is long. Some travellers break it on the Mediterranean coast. Ask us what the current options are for your dates; either way we plan the drive with real breaks.
That distance is why we suggest three nights as a minimum, and four or five if you can. Stay for less and you will spend more time in the car than in the oasis.

When is the best time to go to Siwa?
The cooler months. Summer heat in the Western Desert is severe, and winter nights are cold enough to need warm layers.
Is Siwa suitable for children or older travellers?
Yes, if they are comfortable with a long day in a vehicle and simple surroundings. The days in the oasis itself are gentle: short drives, springs, palm groves and early dinners.
